If like for me, weekends seem to appear out of nowhere & you’ve failed to make any plans… (who am I kidding, my weekends now revolve around kiddies parties, kiddies parties & more kiddies parties). Rock on. How times have changed. But. If I didn’t have a two year old’s party to attend this Sunday, my foodie self would obviously be heading straight for the Street Food Festival that kicks off in Jozi, this weekend.
The 3rd annual street food festival is happening this Sunday, the 28th of August at The Cosmopolitan, in the Maboneng Precinct. Cape Town has it’s turn next Sunday, the 4th of September, at Sidestreet Studios, in Woodstock.
If you’re into street food vibes (think local food trucks & stalls with some great SA flavour- I know my favourites, Sumting Fresh (also known as the Chicken Daddy) will be dishing out gujons for the masses). Or if you just feel like educating yourself on all food entrepreneur matters, then you should totally be food fest’ing this Sunday. There will be some great speakers present for the food talks – Mike Luptak (Yeoville Food Walks), Mokgadi Itsweng (Lothsa Food Journey), Khanya Mzongwana (South African’s relationship with food, food heritage & the role of local street vendors). Best you hit the booking site now (there are only a few tickets left). Admission to the market: R50. Admission to the talks: R550.
For additional information on the market, or to see the full list of speakers, street vendors & times, visit the Street Food Festival site or keep an eye on their Instagram feed >> Streetfoodza
Happy Street Food Fest’ing x
